In a match filled with standout moments, Hardik Pandya’s spectacular catch during the 13th over of Bangladesh’s innings was hailed as the ‘catch of the season’ during the second T20I between India and Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. The catch not only electrified the crowd but also broke the backbone of Bangladesh’s chase, sealing India’s commanding 86-run victory.

During the 13th over, bowled by Varun Chakravarthy, Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain tried to clear the ropes with a big heave towards wide long-on. The shot seemed destined for the boundary, but Pandya, positioned at deep mid-wicket, sprinted across a long distance to his left, covering incredible ground with remarkable speed. Running full tilt, Pandya leapt forward and executed a clean, low catch just inches from the boundary, sending the crowd into a frenzy.

The balance, judgment, and timing displayed by Pandya were nothing short of exceptional. Despite having to cover a vast area, he managed to secure the ball firmly, showcasing his athleticism and commitment on the field. This stunning moment proved crucial for India, as it further derailed Bangladesh’s already struggling chase.

Rishad Hossain, who had scored 9 runs off 10 balls, including two boundaries, was dismissed as a result of Pandya’s brilliance. His dismissal left Bangladesh reeling at a critical juncture, and from there, they never managed to recover, eventually posting just 135/9 in their 20 overs.

India’s dominance seals the series win

With this victory, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. India’s bowling attack, spearheaded by Varun Chakravarthy (2/19), Nitish Reddy (2/23) and others, kept the pressure on the visitors, ensuring an easy win. However, the moment that will be remembered the most was  Pandya’s brilliant catch, which effectively ended Bangladesh’s hopes of a comeback.

Earlier in the day, India posted a formidable total of 221/9, led by Nitish Reddy’s explosive 74 off 34 balls and Rinku Singh’s vital 53. Rishad Hossain was the pick of Bangladesh’s bowlers, claiming 3 wickets for 55 runs.

India now heads into the third and final T20I with a chance to complete a clean sweep of the series, while Bangladesh will look for a consolation win.
