Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell recently shared his insights on the potential game-changers for India in the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Speaking on Star Sports, he emphasized the critical roles played by spin bowlers Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who have consistently challenged Australian batsmen over the years.

“I think that over a long period, having played against guys like Ashwin and Jadeja, those two seem to have always been the ones we’ve faced consistently and the battles we’ve had with them have often dictated the outcome of the game,” said Maxwell while speaking on Star Sports.

“If we play well against those two (Ashwin, Jadeja), we’ll generally find ourselves in a better position compared to when they’ve had a field day and run through us. Those two guys have been there for most of my career, being of a similar age,” he added.

Maxwell also hailed Jasprit Bumrah as arguably the best bowler across all formats of the game. Recalling his first encounters with Bumrah during the IPL in 2013, he spoke about how Bumrah has evolved from a rookie to an established pacer.

This recognition underscores Bumrah’s incredible journey and impact on the game, as he continues to be a vital asset for the Indian cricket team.

“And probably, more recently, Jasprit Bumrah. I was there in his first year of the IPL in 2013 at Mumbai and pretty much faced him every day in the nets. To see him evolve from a young, untapped talent to what he is now, the probably best bowler across all three formats, is a pretty amazing story,” Maxwell added further.

Fans expect a cracking battle

As the Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaches, fans are brimming with anticipation for what promises to be a thrilling contest. The prospect of Ashwin, Jadeja, and Bumrah taking on Australia’s batting lineup adds an exciting layer to the series. Supporters are eager to witness intense battles on the field, filled with skill, strategy, and the enduring spirit of cricket, as both teams vie for supremacy in this prestigious rivalry.
